Hi, I'm Madelynn.  Growing up as a military kid, I was constantly moving and life was constantly shifting in big ways. Although this lifestyle came with its own challenges, I always found connecting with new people and places exciting and interesting.  My curiosity about people and their stories grew.

In college, psychology classes gave me, for the first time, names for all the mental health struggles of my own, my loved ones, and all the people whose paths I crossed in the military.  This was exciting to me, because it gave me hope that my own story, and those of others, did not have to be stagnant.  Instead our stories are filled with opportunities for growth and healing. This discovery led to a career in counseling.   I feel honored to be in the healing space with clients while they work through hard things, and I often finish the workday in awe of the resilience that exists within the human spirit.

My therapy approach is person-centered, holistic, somatic. I meet clients where they are and understand the value and importance of the therapeutic relationship. I am compassionate and attuned to each client’s individual story and experience, as well as how they impact our work together.  Attending to the somatic piece, which simply means "the body," is very important to me, since the body is a very helpful, and often untapped, resource in therapy.  It's also the place where things can get stuck, keeping us circling around the same old stories, created by the mind, even after we have outgrown them.  I'm aware that many people have endured life circumstances that have made it feel unsafe to be embodied, but I am passionate about gently helping clients befriend their bodies, and heal the wounds trapped there, to restore the integration of the whole self and find greater peace.

I do not take it lightly when a client allows me to see their vulnerability, and I therefore strive to create a space for my clients to feel accepted, validated, and safe throughout the process.  I would love to create that space with and for you, if my approach aligns with your goals.
